HAPPENING NOW

Restaurants have had to pivot drastically in the last month. For some, that meant closing the doors and hoping to ride out the storm. Others transitioned to pick-up and delivery. And some have even turned into makeshift grocery stores.

According to the Associated Press, the grocery store concept is a nationwide trend for both large-scale restaurant groups and mom-and-pop shops. Beyond staying afloat, for many, there is a sense of community service that comes along with providing essential goods.

FEEL-GOOD STORIES

This act of kindness kept their doors open and even allowed the restaurant to bring back a few employees.  CNN has the report.

CNBC has a roundup of people delivering meals to 1) feed healthcare workers and 2) to help keep restaurants in business. Among the stories are a chef in Harlem, whose wife is a nurse, and a chef-partner of a beer hall in the Bay Area now delivering meals.
